Bush Voices Concern on Plan to Lift China Arms Embargo

RUSSELS, Feb. 22 - President Bush said today that there was "deep concern" in the United States that if the European Union lifts an arms embargo against China it would change the balance of relations between China and Taiwan, but he said he was still willing to listen to European views on the issue.

対中武器禁輸の解除問題については、ブッシュ大統領は「シラク仏大統領、ブレア英首相との会談でも話した」と述べ、武器の輸出が技術の移転につながり、中国と台湾の軍事バランスに影響するとの懸念を改めて表明。「オープンな対話ができ、建設的だった」と述べ、欧州側と対話を継続する考えを示した。
